Easter 2009

Easter is always such a fun holiday. We have started and continued family traditions. Last year we carried on Clay's tradition of having the Easter Bunny come on Saturday morning. We decided that it is nice to get the candy, egg hunts and games done so Sunday could be more about Christ (plus the kids aren't wound up for church). We started a new tradition of Clay making crepes after we finish with out Easter baskets. This is such a fun treat with all the fresh fruit that comes on sale at Easter time. We also continued on one of my family traditions. Growing up, we always had a weiner roast with all the cousins. The last two years we have made a little fire in our driveway and invited family to come and roast weiners. The kids have so much fun playing running around (and the weather actually cooperated). The day was almost perfect, Clay got called on an outage, so he missed most of the weiner roast. Easter Sunday was nice to wake up to calm children and we were able to get to church early. Bailey got a new little dress and Beau got to wear Uncle Ben's suit. It was nice to have fast Sunday on Easter. We took the opportunity to fast for Clay's Grandma Erickson to have better health. That evening we went to Clay's parents for an Easter ham dinner. Both of Clay's grandma's and his granpa joined us, so it was a special dinner.

On a side note - we got the greatest news Sunday morning! Clay's aunt is getting married!! She has hardly ever dated, let alone ever been married. We are so excited for her. Good things come to good people!

What great Easter traditions you have! I'm going to do Easter baskets on Saturday like you suggest because it would have been a calmer Sunday without all the treats. I like the weiner roast idea too. Jeff was surprised when I made potato chip tuna casserole for Easter dinner. He's like, "don't people normally make ham?" I guess if they are not pregnant. I'll have to treat him to something more traditional next year. Your slide show looks great.
